On December 1, 2017, the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), the Republic of Korea jointly organized an event in Seoul to celebrate GGGI’s 5th anniversary as an international organization. The 3rd Green Round Table was held in celebration of GGGI’s 5th birthday as an international organization. The GGGI-MOFA event provided a moment to reflect – to look back on the Institute’s 5-year history and take stock of its enduring achievements.
150 participants, including Ambassadors to the Republic of Korea, foreign ministry officials and representatives of public and private sectors, international organizations and scholars attended the event. There was an hour-and-a-half-long discussion session on how GGGI and its partners can actively engage with Korean private sector companies, including SMEs to help them make inroads into the global market.
The discussion session was followed by an opening ceremony. Mr. Kim Chan-woo, Ambassador for Climate Change of MOFA delivered opening remarks and Dr. Frank Rijsberman, Director-General of GGGI gave an overview of GGGI’s development, history and successes over the past 5 years. GGGI also took this opportunity to share its success stories in countries, including Ethiopia, Fiji, and Mongolia.
