Media registration will soon close for the 2018 APEC Ministers Responsible for Trade Meeting on 25-26 May in Port Moresby.
Time is also running out to register for the Second APEC Senior Officials’ Meeting here on 23-24 May as well as preceding trade and sectoral official meetings from 14-22 May.
 
Background:
Trade Ministers from the 21 APEC member economies will address emerging challenges in the global trading landscape as well as digital opportunities for their workers and businesses. The aim is to create a stronger foundation for Asia-Pacific trade and growth that benefits everyone.
Trade Ministers will build on a cluster of technical consultations culminating with policy guidance provided by APEC Senior Officials. The focus will be on improving connectivity and regional integration, reforms that lift business and social safety nets, and inclusive, sustainable growth.
They will also consider recommendations from the APEC Business Advisory Council that were taken forward in Tokyo.

Media events:
Opening remarks during MRT, the “family photo” of Trade Ministers and a joint post-meeting news conference of Trade Ministers will be open to accredited journalists.
Opening remarks during SOM2 and the “family photo” of APEC Senior Officials will also be available to accredited journalists as well as media opportunities for select related meetings.
Doorstop interview and photo opportunities will be available in conjunction with the meetings.
The host and APEC Secretariat will hold a news conference on 24 May detailing outcomes from SOM2 and on MRT and related issues.
A news conference by the APEC Policy Support Unit on 23 May to launch the latest APEC Regional Trends Analysis will set the tone for the proceedings.

Accredited media representatives may use a free shuttle service.
