The six Arab states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), plus Yemen, have notified the WTO of draft technical regulations for cosmetics and personal care products.
The regulations set the basic requirements for such products, which must be met before they are placed or displayed on the market, in order to ensure facilitation of trading in the GCC region. They will come into force in the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Yemen 180 days after publication in the council's Official Gazette.
